Avoiding breakdowns
Avoiding breakdowns is what every car owner wants to do. Nobody wants to be stuck on the roadside waiting for a tow. No driver wants to miss an important appointment because their car won't start.
While we can't promise miracles, we can promise to do everything we can to minimize the chances of a breakdown. Want to know how? Read on!
Preventive Maintenance
Your car is a complex machine that contains hundreds of moving parts. To work properly, all those parts must work efficiently. As these parts move, they wear, as they wear, they become less efficient and more prone to failure.
The single most effective way of avoiding breakdowns is with a preventive maintenance program from SHOP. Contact us today to schedule an appointment!
Comprehensive Vehicle Inspections
A regular vehicle inspection is a great way to spot potential problems before they become real ones. It allows you to keep on top of your vehicle and be prepared for most eventualities.
It also has safety benefits. A comprehensive vehicle inspection can spot problems with tires, brakes, suspension and other aspects of the vehicle before they become a danger. That allows us to provide a quick solution and keep you safe on CITY's roads.
Service Intervals
Regular service intervals are the very best way to maintain control of the vehicle. By regularly changing oil, filters and other fluids, we ensure your car always has what it needs to do its job.
Fluid Changes
The engine of your car is a hostile environment. It's hot, dirty and explosive. The fluids that are necessary to keep the engine operating have to cope with a lot. Changing them regularly ensures the engine has all the fluids necessary to work efficiently.
Those fluids include, oil, transmission fluid, radiator fluid and brake fluid.
Oil Changes
Much like the other fluids in your car, the engine oil has an extremely important job to do, in difficult circumstances. It is designed to cope with the environment, but does get worn out. A regimen of regular oil changes ensures the engine has fresh, clean oil to keep it cool, lubricate moving parts and remove contaminants.
Transmission Fluid
Transmission fluid lubricates the gearbox and allows it to move freely. Much like engine oil, this will get dirty over time and will need to be changed. Although it doesn't need changing as often as engine oil, regular inspection and replacement of transmission fluid is essential.
Radiator Fluid
Radiator fluid is a mixture of de-ionized water and antifreeze. This mixture flows around the engine keeping it cool when it's hot, and prevents freezing when it's cold. Again, regular inspection and replacement of radiator fluid is important to keep the engine healthy.
Brake Fluid
Brake fluid is a vital part of your braking system. It is used to provide hydraulic pressure to the brakes, allowing them to work. If your brake fluid is dirty, contaminated or leaking, you're brakes won't work properly, putting your safety at risk.
Tires and Wheel Alignment
The tires on your car are vital. They are the only part of it that touches the road and are responsible for keeping you safe. They need to be in good condition and have adequate tread. The tread not only provides grip, but also displaces water when the road is wet.
Poor wheel alignment can compromise safety. Symptoms of poor wheel alignment are:
- Car doesn't steer straight
- Pulling to one side while driving
- Uneven tire wear
- Vibrations through the steering wheel
- “Loose” steering
